This course offers you two specialisations - ageing and disability. You can choose to study one or more of these specialisations, depending on the line of work you wish to pursue.
You can also look forward to enormous scope regarding future job opportunities. With increases in NDIS funding and given Australia’s ageing population (and the prevalence of disability increasing with age), this line of work has many stable prospects for you.

Communicate effectively
You must be able to communicate effectively in an English-speaking workplace. A literacy test may be required prior to enrollment.
Get a Working with Children Check
Should you work in an organisation involving children in Queensland, you will require a Blue Card. Approximate cost is free. The full list of work placement requirements including costs can be found in our Student Handbook
Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening
To participate in work placements, you will need to undergo an Australian federal police check. These can cost between 60-90 AUD. Additionally, for placement within a disability support organisation, you will also need either a yellow card or NDIS worker screening. An NDIS workers screening will typically be free.

You may also be eligible for government funding - please see the question below for more details. And because this course is Austudy-approved, you can still receive Centrelink payments while you study with us.
You can also take advantage of our wide industry network because Apex partners with over 20 partner organisations nationwide. If required, we can offer you assistance with work placement.
If you are interested to know if the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support program is government funded, you will be glad to know that it is.
The Criteria for government funding for this course include being:
At least 15 years of age and no longer attending school
A Queensland resident
An Australian Citizen or Permanent Australian Resident
In addition, to receive government funding, you should not have previously completed a Certificate III or above in Australia.
Please note, however, that if you are a student pursuing study funded by the Queensland government’s Certificate 3 Guarantee program, you can only pursue one specialisation and up to fifteen units of competency.
If you are a self-funded student, you can elect to pursue more than one specialisation. Self-funded students are still able to take advantage of massive discounts.
The two specialisations offered for this course are ageing and disability.
And given that the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is Austudy-approved, you may still draw Centrelink payments while you are studying at Apex Training Institute.

We have partnered with several facilities to provide the best placement experiences to our students. Students are required to fill out an application form and the facilities then confirm if they are able to accept the student. Apex does not assign a facility to a student but supports and helps them with their application to the facility they want to join. Students are allowed to find placement facilities outside of the ones that Apex has partnered with if there is a specific preference.
You must meet or have the following requirements:
Certificates are given out to all students that complete their course work. This includes in class assignments as well as placements. Upon completion, the trainers review all of the assigned work and placement workbooks and if they are satisfactory, a certificate is then issued within 3 weeks of completion.
